Boplaas
Boplaas is a brandy distillery in Calitzdorp, established 1880 – the days when taxes could be paid for with brandy. It was only in the 70s when the first vines were planted – what they thought was Shiraz turned out to be the Portuguese grape Tinta Barocca. This was a turning point for the Nel family who have then dedicated their passion and knowledge to creating some award winning port and Portuguese table wines using Tinta Barocca.
